Your Doozy Guide to Bermagui, NSW.

We’re the first to admit that as Sydney Siders we haven’t explored much of the South Coast. So when the opportunity arose to visit Bermagui - thanks to the team at Harbourview House, Lenny and I jumped at the offer; and we’re so glad we did!

Bermagui.

Nestled along the Sapphire Coast of NSW, you’ll find the gorgeous coastal town of Bermagui, part of the Yuin Nation. Home to an eclectic range of eateries, boutiques and stunning scenery - it’s easy to see why residents call Bermi home. With no shortage of things to do and see, our 4-day stay was jam-packed with incredible food, amazing coastal walks, a cheeky trip up the Bermagui River and lots of R&R.

Eat + Sip.

Whilst in Bermagui, we were spoilt for choice! despite being a small town, there was no shortage of amazing places to eat and sip.
Here are a few of our absolute faves!!

To Sip: Perfect for pre-dinner drinks or even a post-beach margie - Harbar is a cocktail lovers heaven! If you’re planning to make a night of it be sure to book il Passagio for dinner, it’s right next door and is a match made in heaven!

Best Coffee: No matter where we may be, Lenny is always on the hunt for a killer coffee - and if you happen to be a coffee snob too - we’ve got you covered! Gualga Organics, is a locally owned wholefood grocer that offers stunning organic coffee with a view.

Best Breaky: Even if you’re not vego, Boneless serves up the tastiest guilt-free treats perfect for breakfast or lunch. We absolutely frothed over their smoothies too!

Lunch: After a long day at the beach, head over to Bermagui Beach Hotel, for cold beer on tap and the freshest fish n chips around! With a killer menu, let’s just say we went there two days in a row.

Dinner: After treating yourself to a few cheeky drinks at HarBar, pop next door to il Passagio. A quaint modern Italian restaurant with the most incredible pizzas and pastas.

Treat yourself: Set high amongst a beautiful forest and countryside, Mimosa Winery is a perfect location for a romantic lunch or dinner. If you’re in Bermagui for a few nights - be sure to book a table.

What to do.

After you’ve eaten your way through Bermagui, be sure to add a few of these to your list!

Blue Pool: Bermagui’s famous Blue pool was one of our favourite places to see whilst in Bermagui. Set below the rocky cliff face off Blue Point, this stunning ocean pool is a perfect way to cool off from the summer heat. If you're visiting around August-November be sure to take advantage of the viewing deck for spectacular whale watching.

Gulaga Mountain Walk - Tilba: Even though we didn’t get a chance to climb Mount Gualaga, it’s still on our list for the next time we visit. Mount Gulaga also known as Mount Dromedary - is a sacred mountain and of special importance to the Yuin women. The trail starts at Tilba Tilba, and takes you up through the Gulaga National Park. Set deep amongst native eucalypt and stunning rock-face, it’s easy to see why this mountain is so special. > Access: 10 km north of Bermagui. From Tilba Tilba or off the Punkalla Road at Central Tilba. *This walk is sacred to the Yuin People, so please be mindful of your surroundings.

Bermagui Point: If you’re looking for a cute picnic spot or somewhere to watch the sunset, Bermagui Point has gorgeous views across Bermi and Horseshoe Bay.

Horseshoe Bay & Main Beach: Central to the heart of Bermi, these two beaches are pristine and carefree. Park along Lamont street and stroll over for a day by the ocean or an afternoon picnic.

Fishing: If you love to fish, or just love the serenity of being by the water - Bermagui Bait and Tackle has all of your fishing needs covered for a great day out. Hire one of their tinnies for the day (suitable for 4 people), or ask their friendly staff for the best local spots to fish. Bermi Bait and Tackle offer fishing gear for sale, bait, fuel, ice and if you’re lucky local oysters ready for shucking.

Golf: If you’re in Bermi for a few days and want to sneak in a cheeky 18, Bermagui Country Club is a wonderful course suitable for all playing levels.

O’Shen Theraputica: Lenny and I were lucky enough to enjoy a magical experience at O’Shen Theraputica. Located along the Bermagui River, O’Shen Theraputica is a gorgeous holistic health space that offers a wide range of restoritive services. We were treated to the most incredible massage followed by their signature Deluxe Package For Two - including an infrared sauna, float tank and Migun table. Let’s just say we didn’t want to leave.

Boutiques and Antiques: No matter where we are, we can’t help but have a sticky beak and browse the local shops. Here are some of our favourite hidden gems along Lamont Street.
-
Boho Republic: Major coastal vibes!
-
Strangers In Paradise: The grooviest vintage shop
-
Drift & Fossick: Gorgeous locally made homewares
-
By The Sea Shore: Beach Luxe apparel & homewares
